Lowering the dose and extending the commercial
life of Sciele's flagship product
In May 2006, SkyePharma entered into an agreement with Sciele Pharma (SkyePharma’s US licensee for Triglide™) to develop an improved version of Sciele's leading product Sular® (nisoldipine CR), a calcium channel blocker antihypertensive therapy using SkyePharma’s Geomatrix™ drug delivery system.
Following a fast track development programme, the new formulation of Sular® was approved by the FDA in January 2008 and the new formulation was launched in March 2008.
SkyePharma is manufacturing the product at its plant in Lyon, France.
