Medicated Chewing Gum Technology

SkyePharma's proprietary medicated chewing gum technology uses an approach similar to multilayer tabletting.  A combination of layers can be formulated to modulate the release rate of the active ingredient(s) and flavouring agent(s) when the gum is chewed.

SkyePharma's medicated chewing gums are indicated for local and/or systemic delivery of drugs.  They are designed to provide faster onset and/or better bioavailability of drugs, either by having a fraction of the drug absorbed bucally or by promoting solubilisation of the drug into saliva prior to swallowing.  Medicated chewing gums are patient friendly and a discreet drug delivery solution.
