A key component of inhalation development is the careful match of hardware (inhaler) and software (formulation) for each individual drug. Both aspects are of equal importance in the final product, which has to meet with very demanding regulatory guidelines with regards to pharmaceutical performance.

The additional challenge is the scale-up from laboratory to full-scale production. In addition to its inhalation systems, SkyePharma also offers its clients development expertise in these crucial areas and aims to achieve seamless transitions of products from its development site in Muttenz, near Basel in Switzerland, to pilot and final commercial manufacturing sites.
