Appointment to the Board

Thomas Werner (aged 56) was appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive Director in May 2009. He is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and is a member of the Audit and Nomination & Governance Committees.

Experience

Thomas Werner is Chairman of 4SC AG, Deputy Chairman of SuppreMol GmbH, a Non-Executive Director of Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd, a member of the Supervisory Board of MediGene AG and Blackfield AG and an Advisory Board member of BSN Medical. Previously, he was Managing Director and Senior Vice-President of GlaxoSmithKline Germany. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Glaxo Wellcome Germany, Bristol-Myers Squibb Germany and Convatec Germany (a medical devices subsidiary of Bristol-Myers Squibb). He is a German citizen and holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Göttingen.
